I've just added a new member to my violin family – the Bridge Golden Tasman electro-acoustic violin! I’m thrilled about this new instrument and I’ll tell you why!
Why the Bridge Golden Tasman?
I've been eyeing the Bridge violins for a while now, intrigued by their reputation. The Golden Tasman, in particular, caught my attention for its versatility. As someone who loves to experiment with different genres and performance settings, I needed an instrument that could keep up on my busy days.
First Impressions
From the moment I unpacked the Golden Tasman, I was smiling because of its elegant design. The golden hue is not just for show – it seems to reflect the warm, rich tones this violin produces. But looks aside, the real test is always in the playing, isn't it?
The Sound
Let me tell you, this violin does not disappoint! The acoustic sound is surprisingly full and complex for an electric model. But where it really shines is when it's plugged in. The amplified sound is simply stunning – clear, powerful, and with a depth that I've rarely encountered in other electric violins. It’s very full and colourful.
“I needed a violin that could seamlessly transition from an intimate acoustic setting to a fully amplified performance”
I've found that it plays even better amplified than a traditional violin. The tone is beautiful and complex, making it perfect for live performances.
Versatility is Key
What I love most about the Golden Tasman is its incredible adaptability. As a busy musician, I'm constantly on the run, often juggling multiple gigs in a single day. I needed a violin that could seamlessly transition from an intimate acoustic setting to a fully amplified performance without missing a beat. The Golden Tasman has proven to be the perfect solution for this demanding schedule.
Imagine this: I start my day with a classical quartet performance at a wedding ceremony, where the pure, unamplified sound of the violin is essential to create that perfect ambiance. Then, just a few hours later, I'm on stage with a DJ or band needing a powerful, amplified sound that can cut through drums and beats. In the past, this would have meant carrying two separate instruments. Now, with the Golden Tasman, I can do it all with just one violin.
Whether I'm practicing at home, recording in the studio, or performing on stage, this violin delivers consistently excellent sound across all scenarios. It's become my go-to instrument for gigs where I need to switch between acoustic and amplified playing, often within the same performance. The ability to quickly adapt to different musical environments without compromising on sound quality is amazing.
Is there nothing negative to say?
Almost… but there’s always room for improvement. The one downside I’ve encountered so far is that the jack location to plug into your amplifier is at the back of the body with a small notch. Which is fine, but if you are using wireless systems, please note that it might not fit the wireless transmitter. Easily fixed with a small extension though.
Final Thoughts
Whether you're a professional looking for a reliable performance violin or an enthusiast wanting to explore the world of electric violins, the Golden Tasman is definitely worth considering.
